The Government published standards and targets for healthcare organisations in National Standards, Local Action: Health and Social Care Standards and Planning Framework 2005/2006 – 2007/2008, in July 2004
In autumn 2006, we will publish our assessment of the performance of healthcare organisations in England for all strands of the annual health check. This assessment covers the year ending March 31st 2006.
Assessment of performance against the existing national targets is one component of the ‘Quality’ element of the Healthcare Commission’s 2005/2006 annual health check and covers the targets published by the Department of Health in National Standards, Local Action: Health and Social Care Standards and Planning Framework 2005/2006 – 2007/2008. The existing national targets assess whether levels of service set through the 2003-2006 planning round are being maintained and are considered to be the basics of what organisations should be doing.
Assessment of performance against the new national targets is a further component of the ‘Quality’ element of the Healthcare Commission’s 2005/2006 annual health check and covers the targets published by the Department of Health in National Standards, Local Action: Health and Social Care Standards and Planning Framework 2005/2006 – 2007/2008. New national targets are considered to cover what trusts are required to do to demonstrate they are developing and sustaining improvement.
